Arvind Kejriwal ignites Twitter fire, yet again

Arvind Kejriwal

It is tough being Arvind Kejriwal!

Whatever he does becomes news and after the fiasco of JNU which made people angrier, today he did it again with this tweet.

What is surprising is that it is not the cartoon maker but rather the one who tweeted it who is at the receiving end!

Many will wonder if this cartoon would have gotten any attention at all if it were not the Chief Minister of Delhi himself tweeting it and that is perhaps right because Arvind Kejriwal has a strong following in India and even abroad. And whatever he does, his every move, and every action becomes a talking point.

The rise of Arvind Kejriwal is the stuff that will inspire many people to take to politics in a big way. His clever portraying of himself as the man of the masses after the Anna Hazare anti-corruption movement fizzling out endeared him and made him more relatable to the people who saw him as far more stable than the older anti-corruption crusader.

His leftist and socialist views and his zest to empower the common man also got him fans but it is prudent to note that he does not check his words and blurts out easily. The fact that he used words such as ‘coward’ for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also abused Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan did show him as a man whose patience rests on very thin ice.

But then still, despite all the issues and all his ‘rants’, he continues to remain strong in Delhi and his Aam Aam Aadmi Party continues to make inroads in Punjab.

His unconventional and non-political avatar seems to attract a certain part of the Indian population who sees him as the man who is ‘one of them’ and is therefore, will serve their interests and make their lives better by eliminating corruption.

For the people of Delhi, who were used to seeing leaders being picked from the center and saw the aspirations of the state being sidelined for long, this was their chance to get themselves heard at the national level as they had a politician who was keen to launch his political outfit and career from the state. His way of doing things, knocking at

His way of doing things; knocking at the doors of electorate without the string of cars and commandos behind him, doing nukkad sabhas even when the gathering had a handful of people, and tirelessly raising of important domestic issues made his first term a success. His political gamble of leaving Delhi for better pastures in the last general elections was unfruitful, but the people of Delhi did not have enough of Arvind and they forgave his momentary distraction and soon he stormed Delhi Assembly with full majority that shook the nation and the people realized that he has the ability to extract loyalty from his base.

Soon he stormed the Delhi Assembly and got full majority in the Assembly again, shocking the nation with the political pundits realizing that he has the ability to extract full loyalty from his supporters.

Arvind Kejriwal too has never shied away from flaunting this and actually works towards consolidating his support base. His tweet reflects that he understands the language of the people of Delhi very well:

Detractors may not like him and his ‘non-politically correct’ way of doing things, he may be called the ‘new rising left voice’ and may even be ridiculed or chided for his choice of words, but that Arvind Kejriwal is here to stay is an open and accepted secret.

He has endeared himself to the people and in coming days he will play an even more important role as other opposition parties like Congress do not have the necessary talent to match his style.

It is time for Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) to think out of the box if they want to tackle AK!
