Hindu caretaker of Temple brutally attacked with knives, fighting for his life

Chitta Ranjan Addaya (57) a Hindu caretaker of the Raghunathpur Kali Mandir, located at Madhabdi police station of Narsingdi District, was brutally attacked by assailants with the attention to murder him on the spot on 23.08.2016 at about 07.45 p.m.

The victim has been transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition became critical.

Police has detained Mohammad Feroz (45) son of late Taher Ali (Source-: Bangladesh Protidin dated 25th August 2016 and Daily Jugantor dated 24th August 2016).

Chitta Ranjan Addaya narrated the scene when he was attacked and said “while I was in my stationary shop adjacent to Raghunathpur Kali Temple selling goods, all of a sudden two masked men intruded into my shop on a bike and without saying anything started to attack me with a sharp knife-like weapon. They attacked me multiple times leading to massive injuries on my head and chest, and as I howled in pain my wife Chanchala Rani hearing my cry tried to save me from their indiscriminate attack.”

How was the Hindu caretaker able to survive?

The assailants left the bloodied Hindu caretaker thinking he would die soon after and threw their weapon behind on the crime scene.

The Hindu caretaker was taken to local Mozammel Hospital at Narsingdi for treatment and lost his senses. He was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment and after regaining consciousness he lodged a first information report before the Madhabdi police station, P.S. case No.28 dated 24.08.2016 under section 448/326/307/34 of penal code.

Adv. Rabindra Ghosh, Partho Debnath, Dilip Kumar Roy of Bangladesh Minority Watch met him in the Dhaka Medical College Hospital on 25th August 2016 at about 5 p.m. and held talks with the victim, relatives, and other witnesses. The Hindu caretaker told them that:

1) Mohammad Feroz (45)

2) Mohammad Sumon (30)

3) Mohammad Ripon (25) and others could be involved in this crime.

The witnesses agreed with the Hindu caretaker and said that the names that he took could be right.

Mohammad Ilyas, Officer in Charge of Madhabdi police station, told the team that one person named Mohammad Feroz was detained for interrogation but he has not yet been arrested due to insufficient evidence.
