Raped for 29 days, minor Hindu girl seeks justice in Bangladesh

Bangladesh saw another violent crime against the minority Hindu community. A Hindu schoolgirl aged 16 was abducted for 29 days for rape and trafficking said the minority watchdog Bangladesh Minority Watch.

Police recovered the girl with the help of Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) Dinajpur Chapter on 27.04.2017.

The victim girl was kidnapped on 07.03.2017 at about 6 to 6-30 p.m.

She was rescued from the house of perpetrators:

Mohammad Al-Amin (25) son of Monu Mistry

Mohammad Monu Mistry (49)

Mohammad Mokbul (29) and

Mohammad Shimul (19)

She was kept forcefully confined by these men.

Modan Sarkar (38) filed a written complaint at the Dinajpur Sadar police station for taking necessary steps to recover the girl but police did not record the case and the minor Hindu schoolgirl was gangraped several times during this period of confinement.

While later police did recover the girl yet did not record a case against the rapists.

Modan Sarkar and his wife Bindhu Sarkar filed an appeal to BDMW for providing legal help and are now seeking punishment for police officers as well as the criminals.

Advocate Rabindra Ghosh along with Kamal Karmaker, Shymol Banerjee, T.K. Pandey, Joyanta Das, Dhanonjoy Mohanta, Jowtirmoy Banerjee and James Peter Talukdar of BDMW, on the request of the family, visited the spot on 13.05.2017 and spoke to the rape survivor. The survivor was brutally tortured and is now traumatized and no medical help was even given to her.

When the minority watchdog team met the Additional Superintendent of Police(Admn) Dinajpur and apprised him of the fate of this Hindu schoolgirl, he merely said that “Police have recovered the girl.”
