New York, April 4, 2016: A Hindu man was killed after he protested sexual harassment of Hindu women in Bangladesh in the latest atrocity that has come to light from the South Asian nation.

Hindu man Sonaton Modak was killed after he protested sexual harassment of the Hindu women during religious function “Hori Bashar” at Shahajanpur Upazila of Bogra District on 02.04.2016 at about 10 p.m.

The Hindu community alleges that when they were celebrating their religious function at the fateful night some outsiders from the Muslim community came to the festival armed with deadly weapons and started eve-teasing the Hindu female devotees.

The Hindu man Sonaton Modak heard the cries of the women and protested, which resulted in a scuffle.

Angered by the resistance of the Hindu man, the perpetrators stabbed Sonaton Modak and fled from the scene.

Sonaton Modak died on his way to the hospital. The daily Sangbad dated 04.04.2016, the Bangladesh Protidin dated 04.04.2016 have also reported the case.

Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) communicated with Md. Alamgir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Shahajanpur police station, who said that the three perpetrators have been arrested in this connection while others were absconding.

Surat Chandra Pramanik lodged the First Information Report (FIR) before the police station Shajahanpur (case No. 01 dated 03.04.2016 under section 302/34 of penal code).

BDMW also communicated with D.C. and S.P. Bogra who also expressed grief on the latest attack on the minority Hindu community.

But these attacks are growing with an increased frequency in Bangladesh and the law enforcement agencies seem to be helpless due to rising radicalization in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Minority Watch has demanded the arrest of the perpetrators but only strong government can stop the attacks that are happening on the Hindu community.

We earlier reported the cases of forced conversion of minor Hindu girls from the country as well.
