Hindu woman Sima Majumder (21), a teacher at Mandir Vidayalaya of Madhabpur Municipality in the Hobigonj District of Bangladesh, was kidnapped by local Muslims for conversion to Islam on 15th February 2017 at about 9 a.m.
Bangladesh Police failed to rescue the victim and has also failed to arrest the main perpetrator Md. Sheon Chowdhury till the writing of this report.
Bangladesh Minority Watch said that on the date of 15th February at about 9 a.m. when the victim Hindu woman was going towards Madhabpur Bazar for personal work, she was kidnapped by perpetrators to convert her to Islam.

Bijoy Majumdar father of the victim girl lodged First Information Report (FIR) before Officer in Charge of Madhabpur police station on 16.02.2017 under section 7/30 of Nari-O-Shishu Nirjaton Daman Ain,2003 (Amended) against three perpetrators namely Md. Sheon Chowdhury, Md. Tusher Chowdhury and Alauddin Chowdhury.
Police arrested Md. Tusher Chowdhury for involvement in this crime but the others are still at large.
Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) was informed by its local correspondent Biddut Majumdar of Hobigonj District to help in quick recovery of the victim Hindu woman.
Advocate Rabindra Ghosh said that:
“I on behalf of BDMW communicated with S.P. Hobigonj, D.C. Hobigonj O.C. Madhabpur PS and apprised them the present situation who also assured me for quick recovery of victim – But till date no expected development of recovery made.”
He also stressed that the victim Hindu woman must be rescued immediately. The advocate and his team also face death threats and were recently assaulted by ruling Bangladesh Awami League Law maker- Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shawon on February 3rd. However, no action has been taken against the Chowdhury.
